About Dr Mel

I am a clinical psychologist dedicated to supporting young people and families improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

I understand that being a young person in the modern world brings about some unique challenges. Navigating the pressures of school, family-life, friendships and social media (to name but a few), whilst trying to find a path and a place in an increasingly uncertain world can be incredibly hard.

It can also be difficult for parents and caregivers to know how to best support their children, or to recognise when they might need specialist support. It can be isolating and confusing to know who to speak to and where to get that support.

I work to help you better understand the difficulties you might be facing. I will then support you to find new ways of managing these difficulties. My aim is always to help families and young people to find their path in the world.

Parents

Have you been worrying about your child’s anxiety or emotional wellbeing? Have you found yourself noticing changes in their mood, behaviour or relationships?  It can be so hard to know how best to support young people when they are facing difficulties.

You might find yourself struggling to cope with all the challenges that being a parent can bring and need support for yourself.

Get in touch today to discuss possible support options for your and/or your child.

Young People

You might find yourself with worrying thoughts that can spiral, and feel out of control.  You might be thinking ‘what’s the point’ or ‘no-one understands me...It can be hard to cope with some of the things life throws at you.  It may be that you have been through a very difficult event in life (or several), and find your mind returning to that time over and over again.

It can help to share your worries and concerns. Therapists and psychologists can work with you to help you and your family understand what you are going through. Therapists work to find ways to manage overwhelming thoughts and feelings so that you can get on with enjoying your life.

If you want help to find your way and get a better understanding of your thoughts and emotions then you can ask a parent, caregiver or an adult you trust, to help you get support. You can also click on the link below for further resources and information for young people.
